Back to Work

After seven months of being home with Hunter, it's time for me to go back to work.
I start my new job on Monday, my twenty-eighth birthday!

First time in a shopping cart last weekend
During my maternity leave I knew I wanted to go back to work and started getting the itch to return to the office when he was four months old. At that time I did go back to work for a couple of weeks (it felt good to get dressed up and do my hair/make-up!) only to put my notice in shortly after. Since then I have developed a routine as a stay at home mom and have enjoyed being home with Hunter. His personality started shining through around four months and since then it seems like he is doing something new every day. Sometimes I am amazed at how much love I have for him!

Once I get my new routine down I have no doubt I will enjoy my role as a working mom, but for now the transition feels bitter-sweet.
I am happy that Hunter has been able to go to daycare part-time for the last two weeks. He immediately got sick with a cough/cold from the daycare germs. We are thankful that I am still home so we neither of us have to take sick leave from work! His daycare provider is so nice and he seems to love it there.

Battling the sickies
Onto my next adventure!

Dance Party

The Johnny Jumper is one of Hunter's favorite toys. Check out his jig to Rihanna and Shakira's new song. Such a ham!

DIY Nightstand

I have been feeling pretty blah about our home decor lately and have wanted to update a few things. One of them being our nightstands. I wanted something brighter and crispier looking that could also provide storage. I love the way these turned out! I am waiting for the handles to arrive, so I will be installing those soon enough.
Next project? A headboard for our bed!

Purchased two raw wood dressers from IKEA
Assembling
Painted them white
Drilled in brass corner pieces
Voila!
Thank you to my brother for rescuing me with a drill (and drilling all the corner pieces in for me!). I was so sad when I realized we didn't have one.

First Day of Daycare

Hunter had his first day at daycare yesterday. According to his daycare provider, he did great. Smiled at all the other kids and was very curious :) It was nice to have a few hours to run errands without having to get him in and out of the car (sometimes I skip errands because I just don't want to deal with it). He is scheduled to go three full days next week, so I am hoping to tackle a few projects around the house and cash in on my massage and facial!

Valentine's Day 2014

My little valentine, Hunter, and I spent the afternoon at the car dealership because my battery died (how romantic!). Tonight my original valentine, Robert, is cooking us dinner and tomorrow we have reservations out.
Happy 9th Vday, Robert! I love you and look forward to many, many more.

Party Boy

Hunter attended his first birthday party this past weekend in SF (Happy Birthday, Bennett!). He was looking rather mature wearing a button up shirt and sneakers. He tasted BBQ sauce for the first time (thanks to Robert) and got his first balloon! Was a fun time with lots of babies and lots of delicious pizza.
I totally forgot to get a picture of him and the birthday boy together, unfortunately :(

Cousin Date

The cousins caught up with each other over Pavel's treats last Friday. Hunter stared at the crumbs on the plates looking confused. One day you can have some, big boy!

Six Months!

Happy half birthday to Hunter!
I can't believe he is already six months old. A lot has changed this month: he has two bottom teeth, sits, does push-ups, rolls both ways, eats solids twice a day, cracks up at Cooper (and funny faces), sleeps on his stomach, easily distracted when eating, and is now showing signs of wanting to crawl! This past month has by far been the most fun!
Likes: rolling, eating "real" food, Cooper, exersaucer, standing, chewing on everything, drooling
(everywhere), pulling my hair, and sleeping on his stomach.
Dislikes: being tired or hungry <-- he is not very difficult to please :)
Length: 27.25 inches, 80th percentile (he was 25 inches at his four month appointment)
Weight: 17.25lbs 50th percentile (he was 15lbs at his four month appointment)
I am surprised at his weight, since I thought he would be heavier. Those round cheeks are deceiving! We got the green light on introducing everything except honey, so that should make meals more fun! I am hoping eventually I can take whatever we eat for dinner and blend it in the vitamix for him. That way his meals are more tasty and nutrient.

Waiting for his shots
Flashback to his one month update photo - tiny bird legs. If you look at the sticker size in comparison to his head size, you can see how much his head has grown over the months.

Crawling Soon?

Someone has been pretty wiggly the last few days - looks like he is wanting to crawl in the near future and we are not ready! I have no idea how to baby proof a house, so it looks like I will be doing some research this week :)
