30 Weeks

How far along? 30 weeks - only 10 more weeks to go, wow!
Size: Head of cabbage (about 3lbs,16 inches long)
Maternity clothes? I left work and drove straight to the mall at 9am yesterday because I was so uncomfortable. I literally wore a pair of maternity jeans and top out of the store and drove straight back to work! I also ordered a few things online last week that just arrived.
Symptoms:
I feel much better this week and I am attributing it to going to yoga. It seems to help alleviate my back pain and round ligament pain - plus it is so relaxing! I am starting to feel a lot more pressure and have noticed some swelling by the end of the day. Moving around is difficult - sometimes I sit on the floor because it's easier than getting up from the couch.
Sleep: Much better this week. I slept through two nights, woot woot!

Best moment this week:
Getting updated puppy photos - I love getting updates from the breeder. He looks so different then he did just a month ago. We purchased all of the puppy essentials and we are ready for our furry guy to arrive :)

Last Saturday we attended a friends' wedding, which was fun. It was a beautiful day out - perfect for a park ceremony. At they reception they had a photo booth with props for all the guests to take photos and make a scrapbook page for the bride and groom - cool idea! Hard to believe Robert and I are going on year five of marriage and have a baby on the way. Time flies!
Worst moment of the week: Thinking I lost my Tiffany's ring that I wear on my right finger (not wedding ring). I was convinced I lost it and even had Robert take apart the kitchen sink. I ended up finding it in my workout clothes drawer...I had stuffed too many clothes in and it must have fallen off when I pulled my hand out. Oops.
Miss anything?  Painting my own toenails...I officially can't do it anymore without totally squishing the baby and killing my back. Guess I will have to get pedicures!

Movement: Lots of rolls and strong kicks this week. I
t's so cool to watch him take over and jolt around - he is much more real these days. My hope is that he is getting into the right position. Even though there is plenty of time for him to change positions, I am scared of the doctor telling me he is breech.
Food cravings: Watermelon, coconut popsicles, ice-cream

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope - but I am still getting random bouts of nausea.

Have you started to show yet: Yes and getting comments from people everywhere. I remember thinking I was totally showing in the first photo below at 10 weeks and feeling huge in the second photo at 20 weeks. It'll be fun to see how huge I really get at 40 weeks.

Labor signs: None
Belly Button in or out? Same - in but flat sometimes
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: My baby shower next weekend! Also looking forward to the rocker arriving - it's the last piece of furniture to go in the nursery and I can't wait to see how it looks in there.

Baby A, size of a head of cabbage
What's the baby up to?
  • Baby measurements are 16 inches and weighs about 3 pounds.
  • The head is almost 3.5 inches in diameter.
  • The feet are nearly 2.5 inches long.
  • The baby controls its own body temperature.
He will gain about half a pound a week until week 38 (yikes). Baby is getting fatter and beginning to control its own body temperature. Baby continues to put on fat stores and the major weight gains will occur in the coming weeks. Eyebrows and eyelashes are fully developed, and hair on the head is getting thicker.
Hands are now fully formed and fingernails are growing. Can be seen on ultrasound scans grasping their other hand or feet, this is helping with nerve development. Eyelids are opening and closing, and will often make rapid eye movements - a sign they could be dreaming.

If you have not experienced any swelling yet, it is highly probable that you will, as approximately 40 to 75 percent of women will experience mild swelling related to pregnancy. It may feel like you are running out of room as your uterus grows up under your ribs (yes). However, baby, placenta and uterus will continue to get larger, you still have 10 weeks to go. The average weight gain during pregnancy is 25 to 35 pounds. About half of this weight is concentrated in the growth of the uterus, the placenta, the baby and in the volume of amniotic fluid. At this point, you should be gaining about a pound a week.
