Thanksgiving 2014

Thank you to both of our families for hosting Thanksgiving! Hunter was a lot busier this year than he was last year. It was fun to watch him gobble down his first Thanksgiving meal and hangout with everyone. Must have been good timing that we left on Saturday instead of Sunday this year because we spent today battling a fever and some major crankiness. Hoping it's just the rest of those molars popping through - brutal.
Congratulations to Adam and Kaila on the birth of Wesley - we are so happy for you guys and can't wait to meet him!

Baby #2 - 30 Weeks..

...10 to go!
This week was better than the last few. It was nice to be home with my family for a day and catch up. Also, having a short and slow work week is a welcomed break. We are looking forward to Thanksgiving and a long four day weekend.
I pulled something in my back which has made moving and picking-up Hunter pretty painful, but I think it's on the mend, so lots of hot showers and stretching in the meantime.
The belly is b-i-g these days - heavy and feeling lots of pressure. I seem to hit my wall around 3pm during the day, but thankfully am still sleeping through the night (sometimes 8pm is a totally acceptable bedtime).
The baby is moving non-stop in there and sometimes hurting me! He is very strong and occasionally gets a limb stuck in my hips, ribs, etc. When he rolls around he puts a lot more pressure on me these days and that can be painful.

Captain Hunter

He loved the boat at MyMuseum this past weekend.
He and Oma (riding in the back) probably spent fifteen minutes like this!

Beeeep

While Berto's Away..

...we will play. Robert was finishing up some school stuff this weekend so Hunter and I jumped in the car last minute and headed down to Monterey for a quick escape.
Also, I took out the new baby swing so he could get used to it - how huge does he look?!

Baby #2 - 29 Weeks

We are now at the point where I see my doctor every two weeks - getting real! I feel sad for this baby, as we haven't done anything for him yet besides buy him a pair of leggings that were on sale at target.
He has been moving around a lot this week and actually made me pretty uncomfortable this past weekend. Up until this point I haven't had much back pain, but over the weekend my back and hips were sore. Makes chasing Hunter around quite a workout.
I pre-registered for the hospital, but other than that, we still have time for things like installing the infant car seat, buying a stroller, buying another infant car seat base, packing the hospital bag, and dusting off all the infant gear <-- cue the anxiety..so.much.stuff.
In the meantime I will be doing as much yoga as possible (flip baby, flip) and trying not to freak out about everything.

What's baby up to?

Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (about the size of a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain.

Our Weekend

Hunter and I spent Saturday just us two, so we decided to run some errands. What started as gassing up the car and hitting up a few stores turned into over an hour at Michael's in the 40% off Christmas section. Whaaaaat! (Side note: the old ladies at Michael's loved Hunter. He kept saying thank you, thank you, thank you, goodbye!).
Before we knew it we were unloading a trunk full of Christmas decor and decorating the house before Robert got home. FA LA LA LA LA!
The house looks and smells like the holidays and I don't feel an ounce of guilt about it!
Also, check out our new
stockings from Pottery Barn. We are all monogrammed (except for no name baby boy, but we hung his anyway).
Off to turn on the Michael Buble holiday station...

Baby #2 - 28 Weeks

Yesterday marked 28 weeks and brought on lots of pressure, braxton hicks, cramping, and claustrophobia.
This week was tough, as our daycare was closed for four days and the back-up daycare we arranged (a month ago) cancelled twice last minute. One of the days we didn't even know until 7:30am! Talk about stressful. We both ended up having to take time off work on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. Work is crazy right now for both of us, so while I tried to enjoy my days home with Hunter, it was a challenge being out of the office. Fortunately, Grandma and Grandpa were able to come up and spend Wednesday with Hunter while we both caught up in the office. Thank you!
Robert saw my belly yesterday and noticed baby boy looks a lot lower. I think he flipped positions a few days ago and I am hoping he is head down. I have an appointment tomorrow for a heartbeat check and our next ultrasound is at 32 weeks so we'll know within the next month what he is doing in there.
What's baby up to?

By this week, your baby weighs 2 1/4 pounds (about the size of a large eggplant) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels.
He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

iPhone Dump

Let's just say someone is full of life these days. And he is sooo snuggly lately, lovin' it.

Baby #2 - 27 Weeks

Happy third trimester to meeee. I feel like I've been in it for awhile now so I am happy it's finally here. No news other than the usual exhaustion and over all feeling of being brain dead. Oh, besides insomia - that kicked in and really helps with being tired all the time :)

I am looking forward to maternity leave. I need a break from work and can't wait to meet this little guy and spend all day with a newborn. A smooshy, sleepy newborn.

Our homework from the pediatrician is to buy a babydoll for Hunter to get him used to having another baby around. So you will find us bottle feeding and holding fake babies in the near future.

Baby boy two now weighs 2lbs and is 14.5 inches long. He is compared to a cauliflower this week (hmm).

Hunter - 15 Month Update

Hunter is 15 months old today!
In honor of a busy week and a rainy day, we celebrated by watching his first movie - Frozen - in our jammies and building a blanket fort in the family room. He is still a little young, but he watched bits and pieces with me (and laughed at the "Let It Go" song).
snuggling with me and watching Frozen
Milestones: walking, running and falling everywhere, loves trick or treating, sporting a mullet, likes brushing his teeth, loves baths, down to one nap and sleeping 7pm-6/6:30am.
Hunter is constantly talking, most of which we can't understand. His words include uh oh, dog, mama, no, dada, thank you, bye, hola, beep beep, titi, bobo (?), Sella (Yissela, his daycare teacher), and probably a handful of words in Spanish.
rare breakfast in our room while I finished my make-up
Favorite foods: bananas, black beans, cottage cheese, pb&j sandwiches, pluots, blueberries, goldfish, cherrios, mac n cheese (quinoa with cheddar cheese), steamed broccoli, and oatmeal.
Dislikes: eggs, though he loved them last month so probably just a phase. Diaper changes. Our bed - he has never liked laying in our bed!

Go Giants!
Favorite things: opening and closing doors/drawers, playing with Cooper and Kenya, the dishwasher, pushing the stroller and/or his "car". He thinks blankets are funny, loves to be tickled, peekaboo, "drumming" on any hard surface. He loves getting zipped into his sleep sack and going to bed. As soon as we put him in there he is happy playing with his bunny and it usually takes him 10-15 minutes before he passes out (thank you, Hunter!).
check out that mullet
Other thoughts: he is a tad more snuggly and loves to hug these days. I don't get too comfy though since it doesn't last long. He still has eight teeth, still wearing 12-18 months clothes, and shoe size is 5.5/6.
I thought we were entering the tantrum zone around 12 months, but I seemed to have jumped the gun there. We don't have "tantrums" - occasionally he will get frustrated and cry, but it usually doesn't last long. My guess is we will see more toddler-like behavior right around when baby #2 arrives.
sweetness
We love you Hunter and can't believe you are already so big. I remember hearing "15 months" a few months ago thinking it was so far away. Before we know it you'll be 18 months old and a big brother - yikes!
